Dreaming of Naples
I am Dreaming of Naples and the Amalfi Coast. What is not to love about this place. From the food to the people to the entertainment, everything sets you on fire. I am developing some recipes from the area and hope to have my Ricotta Cake up for the weekend on the blog.
Remembering
Naples is part of southern Italy and growing up as in immigrant in Sault Ste. Marie my first introduction to Naples was the Pulente family. Giovanni and his wife Rachele were the kindest most warm-hearted individuals. My cousins Ettore and Marcello played soccer and after the game, the Pulente family opened their house for food, laughter and music. They had a wonderful music band that played at our wedding in 1979. The Pulente family sums-up what you will find in Naples and the Amalfi Coast: hospitality.
Pasta is always fresh here in Naples and cooked perfectly.
This pasta had mushrooms and a blush sauce and of course served to perfection.
A simple, but delicious appetizer.
Things don’t have to be complicated; the cheese, pears and honey were all local.
Nonna made dessert.
This was the best tiramisu I ever ate.
The best pizza in the world.
Naples is also know for its cheese and cured meats.
The simplicity and complexity of flavours.
The Views
The views on the Amalfi Coast are breathtaking. I can’t even explain the shortness of breath I experience each time I overlook the Gulf of Naples.
I love all the local products.
At night the streets are full of life and laughter. There are many beautiful fountains and outdoor restaurants. Here I am with my sister.
One view after another; the hillside.
The ceramic is splendid.
Next time you are planning an Italian getaway, think of stopping on the Amalfi Coast and visiting Naples. You will not be disappointed.
